Biodiversity Information Management Forum 2010

Registration closes at 16:00 today

20 – 23 September 2010, Kirstenbosch, Cape Town

Forum theme: Creating a Centre of Excellence for Biodiversity Information Management.

Registration is now closed

This year we will explore the establishment of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Biodiversity Information Management. Since the inception of the Biodiversity Information Management Forum, a central theme has been the recognition that we need to address the acute skills and capacity shortage within biodiversity information management.  Each year we have been building on our collective understanding of this challenge, and now we will start looking at how bring about the change that would lead to increased human capacity, skills and innovation!

The Forum also provides the opportunity for presentations by delegates on aspects of biodiversity information management. Presentations on the following topics are invited:

·         System & tools development

·         Data & information management

·         Data collection methods

·         Linking biodiversity information to decision & policy making

System demonstrations and posters on biodiversity related topics are welcome.

This forum is free and open to all who are interested in the collection, storage and usage of biodiversity information.  Refreshments and lunch will be provided free of charge on the days of the forum and dinner will be supplied on the evening of 22 September 2010.
